Billionaire buys 6BD for $11.9M in Atherton

Medium f570397cf88075a384b4dabceb42b280 Hiroshi Mikitani bought a six-bedroom, five-bath home at 163 Britton Ave. in Atherton from Duke Rohlen and Kendall Simpson Rohlen for $11.9 million on Sept. 21.

The 6,212-square-foot house was built in 2008 at Valparaiso Park.

Mikitani is founder and CEO of Rakuten, Inc. He is ranked 167th of the world's billionaires. Prior to founding Rakuten, Mikitani established a consulting business, Crimson Group in 1996.

He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Duke Rohlen is CEO at The Tautona Group and chairman of CV Ingenuity. He was president at FoxHollow Technologies.

He attended Stanford University and Harvard Business School.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 111 home sales in Atherton during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $3.8 million.
