Writer buys Haight Ashbury 2BD for $1.5M

Medium bb2397423b5e7f614ab4202b756dcf19 Bill E. Cawley and Nancy K. Austin bought a two-bath home at 972 Clayton St. in Haight Ashbury from Norma F. Satten, Deborah L. Satten, Joseph Satten and Sara L. Satten for $1.512 million on July 15.

The 2,950-square-foot house was built in 1925.

Ms. Austin is a writer best known for the bestsellers A Passion for Excellence which she co-wrote with Tom Peters in 1985 and The Assertive Woman which she co-authored with Stanlee Phelps in 1975. She founded Nancy K. Austin, Inc. in 1985 and co-founded The Tom Peters Group, a Palo Alto-based consulting and research firm, in 1983. She also worked at Hewlett Packard Company in Palo Alto, was president at Not Just Another Publishing Company and was a contributing editor at Working Woman magazine.

She earned her bachelor's degree and M.B.A. from UCLA.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 96 home sales in Haight Ashbury during the past 12 months, with a median sale price of $950,000.
